Established on the 8th day of November in 1988 under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860, the Vivekananda Shelter Educational and Welfare Society has been actively engaged in philanthropic, charitable, and welfare programs. Recognized and registered by the Ministry of Social Welfare, Government of NCT Delhi, our Vivekananda Ashram, located in the serene surroundings of Shikarpur near Najafgarh, serves as a nurturing haven for children between the ages of 5 to 18 years.
Since last 35 years, our Ashram has provided a loving home to 400 children, laying a strong foundation to mould them into responsible citizens. Managed by a dedicated core team, our Managing Body ensures that the 21 children currently under our care have all their basic needs met.
We have not availed of any funds from the Government, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate individuals and Groups whose valuable
contributions and unwavering support have propelled our mission forward.
Late Dr. Shakti Kapur, a dedicated humanitarian and educationist, was the founder of the Vivekanand Ashram.
Drawing inspiration from the profound teachings of Swami Vivekanand, Late Dr. Kapoor aimed to cultivate virtues such as good character, self-confidence, and self-reliance in young minds.
She firmly believes in the transformative power of education, aiming to shape young minds and cultivate virtues such as character, mental acuity, intelligence, self-confidence,and self-reliance.
